Wiegman beat Chelsea's Emma Hayes and Barcelona's Jonatan Giraldez to the award which recognised her achievement in taking England to the final of the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. The prize was awarded based on performances last season including the 2023 Women's World Cup.

"Some of you must be thinking: 'Oh there she is again," I'm sorry," joked Wiegman as she accepted her award. "At the same time I'm very honoured, I feel very privileged and humble that I'm here again. I'd like to thank everyone who's been involved in our performances with England. Thank you to the EFA (English Football Association) for the big support we get."

Wiegman went on to pay tribute to fellow nominees Hayes and Giraldez.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wiegman's win is remarkably the fourth time she has won the award. She took the prize after managing Netherlands to a European Championship win in 2017 and was back on top again in 2019 after they reached the World Cup final.

After taking over the Lionesses, Wiegman was voted last year's winner after England's Euro 2022 win and has now added an unprecedented fourth after England's run to last year's World Cup final in Sydney.
