Kerolin recovering from ACL injuryMissed Courage's play-off campaignBrazilian cries after receiving MVP awardWHAT HAPPENED?
The forward tore her ACL in the final match of the NWSL regular 2023 season against Washington Spirit last October, before being named the player of the season the following month after netting 10 goals in the campaign. While she is still out injured, this weekend she collected the MVP accolade before North Carolina Courage's 1-0 win over Gotham FC – and it clearly meant the world to her.

The clip shows the Brazilian international breaking down in tears before being consoled by North Carolina Courage head coach Sean Nahas. She then lifted the trophy in celebration to the crowd in emotional scenes.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Kerolin was Courage's best player last season before the former Madrid Club de Futbol Femenino star suffered her serious injury. The 24-year-old, and her club and country, will hope she will be back playing soon as she is a big talent. Her presence was missed for Courage last term as they lost in the play-off quarter-finals to Gotham after finishing third in the regular season.
WHAT NEXT?
While Kerolin steps up her injury recovery, Courage, who sit third in the table after three games, next face Portland Thorns on April 13 after this upcoming international break, followed by Angel City the following weekend.
