Kane aiming to end trophy drought Bayern finished third last seasonKompany takes charge for 2024-25WHAT HAPPENED?
Despite scoring 36 goals in his debut Bundesliga campaign, it was not enough for Kane to end his trophy drought as Bayern finished third in the table and 18 points behind champions Bayer Leverkusen. The England striker has a new manager this season in Vincent Kompany, and the former Burnley boss will be hoping to return the Bavarians to the summit of German football.

Bayern have strengthened their squad in a bid to dethrone Leverkusen, with Joao Palhinha arriving to shore up the midfield and Michael Olise supporting Kane in attack. This new-look Bayern has left club legend Matthaus confident that they will reclaim the title after last season's disappointment under Thomas Tuchel.
WHAT MATTHAUS SAID
Matthaus told BBC Sport: "I do not think he [Kane] will score 36 goals again. But perhaps he will not need to. He will be motivated this year with a new coach, with a new team, with a new spirit.
"Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are the favourites for me. I see them both at the same level but I have this feeling that Bayern Munich will win."
